Fatal attraction

There is something magnetizing in poker and casino for sure. We may speculate what is the source of this attraction. Maybe it is a touch to the world of the rich-a place where everything is for luxury and pleasure. A place where the surrounding is glitter and colorful and you can prove to yourself and to the other that your skills make you deserve of being in such a world.
Conclusively, the casinos open to us a gate to the world of the rich and self-confident.
Most of the people lose money there-well, but these people more often than not can afford to lose and they for sure do not count every dollar before they spend it in the supermarket.
In addition a casino may be a place where you can joint the world of the rich and self-confident for small sums and win much –much more (or at least several casinos claim it)

We don’t have to play for money to feel it though. The game and knowing its rules make the player sexy and attractive. No matter what the jackpot and kind of game. Pamela Anderson would agree with me I guess. Life with a professional poker player can be as exciting as the game itself I assume. Being a good poker player is mostly about a good strategy. So good night sleep is an important factor as well. Any circumstances which can affect the game.

Not every poker player keeps the discipline though. He appears as the young Dionysus. Beautiful, magnetizing and sexy with the fancy car and bright eyes. I don’t have UB pro in mind, although I am not taking loads of women away from him. He also can be attractive to the women with his individual style and self esteem.

I don’t reject the fact he can be attractive to other women

There’s plenty of naive people out there, who play the game not knowing the rules. They loose even more than money. They mostly wrecks in life, very unattractive picture.

People need attraction in their life to experience it deeper. Some people strive to live wiser and longer whilst some people would chose a shorter life but deprived of a routine and full with attractions.

Probably it is not the best idea co connect your life to gambling and poker playing, but there must be found a proper balance. One must know his poker playing skills level and financial possibilities. The more you get the rules the more sexy and self-confident you become and the more the world of glamorous casino is the right place for you. Nevertheless, at first you must find out what personal qualities you have and practice, practice, practice. Probably the gates of the glamorous casino will not be open to you right now but the online poker rooms provide all you’ll need in the beginning of your way: non-deposit bonuses, possibility to play with people at your level and o change it whenever you like…good luck then!

Betfair Poker Blog Shows Pride with No Prejudice!

I was reading Betfair Poker's Blog this morning and really liked this entry on the Betfair Blog.

Betfair Poker's Blog has had some great entries recently. Infact Betfair Poker have really been hitting the nail on the head of late. Keep it up guys We love ya!

Poker and Prejudice
Often portrayed in films and soap operas as under-hand characters gambling ill-gotten gains in a dingy, smoke-filled warehouse, poker players have a poor reputation in the eyes of the non-playing public.

I myself have been victim to this prejudice whilst working in my previous office job when some colleagues noticed the many poker magazines and books I brought into work on a daily basis, mainly to pass the time on my lunch hour. Trying to explain that I would not lose my house if I lost a crucial hand, or a couple of fingers if I beat some Russian Mafioso was an arduous process.

If I told them I was going to the casino for a poker tournament, I would be met by a barrage of questions about blackjack, roulette and informed that only certain types of people frequent casinos. Heaven forbid if I happened to mention I was short of cash as the reply would always be, "well you can afford to gamble!" There was no point trying to explain my bankroll is separate from my bank balance!

This prejudice is totally unjust for the vast majority of poker players. Whilst the images they have seen on TV may have run true in the Wild West or even when Doyle Brunson first started out in the 1950's and 60's, poker in modern times could not be any more different if it tried.
Casinos are no longer the smoke-filled dens of desperation they were once perceived to be, in fact most now offer entertainment and facilities so visitors do not have to gamble when on their premises and their security and comfort is always catered for and top of the agenda.

Poker tournaments now take place every day of the week [on Betfair Poker], ranging from £5 entry fees up to £1,000 if your money can stretch that far and all are played in a friendly environment under the watchful eye of the casino manager and floor team. Where in the past poker was almost a 100% male pastime, most tournaments have a dozens of female players taking part, and some, like Annette Obrestad, have the skills to dominate proceedings.

The great game that is poker is still evolving, becoming more mainstream and generally accepted by the masses but there will still be some people who will always see poker players in a bad light. The next time somebody looks at you like you have leprosy when you tell them you play poker for real money, have a wry smile to yourself you bad, bad person!

Betfair Poker Player Types

Although most of the emphasis on poker player types seems to go on whether a poker player is tight or loose, aggressive or passive, there are actually numerous other poker player types that can be identified within the poker community, adapted to and profited from. One of the best examples of this are ego and grind driven poker players. I have a great example of this phenomenon in poker, and it is one that is actually a lot more common than people think amongst players who play regularly together.

A recent news article on Betfair Poker comments:

"I used to drink in a pub that had a regular group of guys who would play poker every now and then after the pub shut. They knew that I was playing poker for a living at the time and I would occasionally play in these small sit and go's if I had nothing else to do. The players in this game literally fell into these two categories - their play was either ego driven or grind driven.

Half the players were there just to play solid hand values, stick to what they saw as 'sound' poker and try and grind out a small win each time the game formed. The other half of the players were guys whose only wish for the evening was to show their superiority over everyone by making a big bluff or other fancy play that they could pat themselves on the back for after they showed the whole table - the money was basically irrelevant to them.

The ego driven players were particularly like this in pots with me - they obviously wanted to be able to tell everyone in the pub that they had bluffed the pro. Suffice to say, by identifying these player types I could beat up on this game all night long.

No one seemed to be able to work out my playing style, as half the time I would make very thin calls against the ego players constant big bet bluffs, while the rest of the time I would not be paying off the grinders and simply wearing them down with pre and post flop aggression each time they missed the flop or gave up their blinds. The grinders couldn't understand how I was not paying them off when they finally hit, and the ego players couldn't understand why I would call their big bets so easily but fold so regularly to the grinders big bets.

The moral of all of this is two fold. Firstly, by identifying these kinds of poker player types you can quickly gain an edge against players that seem different from what they are - focus closely not only on a player's actions, but also the apparent reasons for those actions. Secondly, don't let your game stagnate like the grinders or let your ego take over."

Online and Live Poker is a game where you just try and make the right choices as often as possible - your ego is not going to make very many good choices in the long run, neither is playing one predictable (and quite boring) playing style. Really look closely at those around you when you are playing - it may be that their motives give you more information than their actions at points.
